The NFL season is here and for this Thursday night game, I’ll give you my best bet in this contest between the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs:
Jahmyr Gibbs, Detroit Lions – OVER 3.5 Receptions
- FanDuel: -132
- DraftKings: -130
Gibbs is a well-documented pass-catcher and Detroit is going to utilize that heavily, starting right here in Week 1. The team is going to be creative with him, and he effectively will act as the second-best receiver on this team, despite being a running back. Oh, guess what team allowed the most receptions to running backs last season? Yes, it was the Kansas City Chiefs! Only three teams allowed more receiving yards to running backs than the Chiefs last season as well. While trends may not always carry over from year to year, a pass-catching running back is a staple in a Ben Johnson offense, and we saw it last year, as the running back position held a 20.6 percent target share in 2022.
