As we inch closer and closer to the start of the fantasy football playoffs, some of us are fighting for those playoff lives. On the other hand, there are those in our leagues who are sitting pretty and are beginning to plan for the playoffs. This article is for that audience.
These are the opportune times for those of us with a solid place in the standings to tweak our rosters and exploit favourable playoff matchups. Making a trade with another team that can’t afford to wait out a bye week or an injury is always a great strategy to get value and beef up for the playoffs. Another great strategy can be to make a trade that looks like a slight trade down on paper, but upon closer inspection benefits you in the long run as it gives you more long-term upside.
Think of it this way: Would you rather have the RB20 who has a terrible fantasy playoff schedule or the RB23 who has a cupcake fantasy playoff schedule? Short-term pain can often lead to significant long-term gain.
With that in mind, let’s go position by position to look at a handful of players that have the easiest and toughest fantasy playoff schedules. We will be looking at Weeks 15,16 and 17. So, if your league has a different playoff schedule you need to account for that. Keep in mind, I’m not telling you to drop or trade away these players for pennies, I’m just asking you to be aware that they could have a lower ceiling come crunch time.
As far as rankings go, treat it like golf, the lower the number the easier the matchup. 1 is the easiest matchup, while 32 is the toughest.
